Having worked with Dr. Bishop at the Tillman's Corner Chiropractic Clinic for many years, Doris has learned to integrate massage therapy with the specific treatment plans established by Dr. Bishop for his patients' specific needs.  The central goal for patients is to reduce pain, increase blood and oxygen flow to the skin and extremities, to nourish the skin, and to relax muscles and relieve spasms.

Incorporating Chiropractic Massage
into Treatment Plans and Wellness Living

Massage Therapy can be an integral part of chiropractic care and can be incorporated into chiropractic care treatment plans. A massage done at a local salon or spa is not the same as chiropractic massage therapy.

The Spa Experience vs.
Chiropractic Therapeutic Massage

Chronic pain or fatigue can return following a spa experience because the underlying cause of pain is not being addressed.  Therapeutic massage performed along with the medical knowledge and guidance of a Chiropractor can change the course of rehabilitation. Recent surgeries, sports injuries, injuries from automobile accidents, work or home related injuries, or chronic pain can benefit from therapeutic massage, and can improve healing times.

About Massage Therapy
Some Surprising Historical References

Massage therapy along with Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese Medicine have been practiced for centuries. Surprisingly, some of the earliest written history contains content about massage therapy.

In 722 BC, massage appeared in scripture. The Nei-Jing is a compilation of medical knowledge and is the foundation of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Massage is referred to in 30 different chapters of the Nei-Jing, and specifies the use of different massage techniques and how they should be used in the treatment of specific ailments and injuries. Fast forward a few thousand years, and you will see Massage Therapists on the track and field with some of our greatest athletes and Olympians, in Hospice Care, and alongside Chiropractors.
